Field Blocks Guide
Phone Field

Phone numbers are essential for callbacks, WhatsApp follow-ups, and SMS reminders—but plain text fields make it easy to collect invalid or unusable numbers. LumoPages offers a dedicated Phone block with a country selector, flag icons, and smart formatting so respondents enter numbers you can actually dial.
This guide explains how to add and configure the Phone block in your Lumo.
Why Use the Phone Block?
- International-ready: A searchable country dropdown shows flags and dial codes so users pick the right region.
- Auto country detection: When someone types a dial code (for example
972or+972), the selected country updates automatically. - Validated input: Numbers are validated and stored in a standard international format (E.164), ready for exports, CRM imports, or WhatsApp workflows.
- Better mobile UX: A tel-friendly input with formatting as you type feels natural on phones.
Step-by-Step: Adding a Phone Field
- From the form builder, open a stage and drag the Phone block from the field tools palette onto your canvas.
- Click the block to edit its label inline (for example "Mobile number" or "WhatsApp number").
- Open the settings panel on the right to configure additional options.
Configure Phone Settings:
- Description: Optional helper text shown below the label.
- Placeholder: Hint text inside the phone input (optional).
- Default Country: Pre-select the country shown when the field first loads—useful when most respondents share a region.
- Required Field: Toggle on to prevent submission without a valid phone number.
- Conditional Logic: Show or hide the field based on earlier answers, same as other field blocks.
User Experience
On your live Lumo, respondents see a country selector on the left (flag + dial code) and a phone input on the right. They can:
- Pick their country from the dropdown.
- Type a local number with formatting applied as they go.
- Type an international number or dial code—Lumo detects the country and updates the selector (for example typing
972selects Israel).
For WhatsApp or SMS campaigns, pair the Phone block with a short description explaining how you will use the number. That clarity often improves completion rates.
Phone vs Short Text
The Short Text block can accept generic text, email, or numbers—but it does not include country selection, flags, or international phone validation. Use the dedicated Phone block whenever you need reliable contact numbers rather than free-form digits.
